the beauty post | FOTD

 B A S E

After applying my daytime moisturiser I went in with my Garnier BB cream. I don't usually wear anything but powder and concealer usually, but my skin has been getting really dry so I used this today for a bit of moisture. I do really like this BB cream and I use it in the colour 'light' - I've reviewed it here. I then use the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer under my eyes (review here) and the Collection concealer on any red bits. These are both my number one concealers but find that they can settle into lines so set them into place with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder (review here). I have this in the shade 'transparent' so I can use it whatever skin tone I am!

I then move onto my eyes and use my Holy Grail eyeliner - the Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner is so easy to use and I use it almost every day without fail. I've given an entire review already on it here so I won't ramble on about it any longer! I just did a very fine line along the lashes and then a small flick on the edge. I then go onto my waterline with the Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof eyeliner in 'nude'. This really brightens up my eyes and makes me look much more awake than I am! I then use the Benefit They're Real mascara on the top lashes and The Body Shop Define and Lengthen mascara on the bottom. These work really well together and I think using a lengthening mascara on the bottom lashes is really flattering.

On my lips I just used the Topshop lipstick in 'macaroon'. It's just a lovely blue-toned pink and such a flattering colour. I've already reviewed it here so go check that out if you fancy!

So this is my make up today, I hope you've enjoyed reading this and having a gander at my face!

Have you used any of these products?

the beauty post | rimmel moisture renew 'in love with ginger'

Today I'm coming at you with my most recent lipstick purchase, which is 'In Love With Ginger' from the Rimmel Moisture Renew collection. I've heard so much about this lipstick with it going around the blogging world and when I saw some of the swatches I knew I had to have it! On other people and in the bullet this looks like an orange-red lipstick, but as soon as I put it on it becomes much more pinky than I expected. Especially in these pictures - in person it did look more orange but I couldn't get it to come out correct at all!

I absolutely love the texture of this lipstick - as it is part of the Moisture Renew, you know it's going to be lovely and moisturising on the lips. I have recently had a bout of really dry lips so this has been a godsend over my matte lipsticks. It goes on really smoothly and even and I can literally put it on in one sweep and go. In terms of lasting power, it doesn't last as long as I'd like but it does well to say it isn't a matte lipstick.

The only think I would say is that the colour can be difficult to pull off - we all know that blue toned lipsticks make teeth look whiter and that orange toned reds do the exact opposite. Therefore, I always think that my teeth look a little yellow when I wear this so not exactly the look I go for! But I only find this if I put on this product really heavily - if I just dab it on or apply less I can just about get away with it!

Overall, I do really love this lipstick. I've never really been one for shinier lipsticks just because they always remind me of older women, but this one has really changed my mind, I'm definitely going to buy some more of the shades from this collection in the future as well, just because of how moisturising and lovely they feel on the lips!

This lipstick retails at £4.49 from Boots and can be bought here.

Have you tried this lipstick? Would you? Let me know what you think!

I never thought I'd be one for patterned pant - I've always loved them on other people but I thought they'd just make me look a bit weird! However, a couple of months ago I spotted these ones on New Look for only £10 so thought WHY NOT??

And they now are some of my favourite pants, as they can look really dressy or casual. Today I'm wearing them to uni (which I have to set off for in literally 10 minutes even though I haven't even had lunch yet! #studentproblems) so put them with a tee and boots.

I was a bit worried of wearing a textured tee with statement pants but I think I just get away with it because it's a white top! I'm also wearing my lovely new boots which were a Christmas present off my sister - so preeeedy.

I really had better get off and go to uni, short and sweet today.
Do you like statement pants? Would you wear a pair?

ps; I've had a complete redesign of my blog and have changed it up - what do you think??
I still think the header is a little too long yet but I'll change that at a later date. Let me know!

the style post | asos sale pick

DRESS - ASOS (sale)
NECKLACE - PRIMARK

Long time, no see!
I can't believe I last wrote on here in November - now here we are in January 2014 and I'm finally back! I was only meant to take a couple of weeks off to finish up uni work and hand in some assignments, but then I decided to take a little longer off and then it was Christmas and then I went on holiday and now here we are!

I thought today I'd show off one of my recent sale picks from ASOS. I've wanted this dress for literally months - ever since it cam on the site, but for £48 I held back and then finally after Christmas I found it in the sale. Don't you love it when that happens!

I love everything about this dress - but mainly the print. I love a good elephant print and especially this one as it's much less in your face and not very visible unless you really look. The material is seriously lovely too - really soft and light. It's definitely a piece I'll be wearing all year round because it is really easy to layer up and yet lightweight enough for the hotter months.

I've never really got on with the smock dress though - I've always loved it and have ordered so many dresses in the smock style but I never think I can get away with it - I think you have to have a certain body type and I might not really have it with boobs and a butt! But I love this dress so much that I don't really care and I'm definitely keeping it! I think it'll just take a bit of getting used to as I usually wear dresses which are a little more fitted as they flatter my body type more.

I wore it with my favourite bag at the moment - this lovely satchel from ASOS. I've been after a little handy bag for a while now- one that I can take on nights out but also to uni on days when I don't need as much stuff. It's such a lovely coral colour and has two compartments inside, with a zip pocket as well. The only thing I would say is that the clasp needs a bit of work to begin with as I found it really difficult to open for the first few weeks!

So what do you think of my sale dress? Have you bought anything good in the Christmas sales? Let me know!
