The Body Shop all-in-one BB cream in 01
Urban Decay Naked palette in Sin and Naked
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara in Black

Super quick and simple make up look today - with all the attention on the lips.

For my skin I used my new BB cream, which is colour adapting so very cool indeed. It goes on white and then blends out to the right colour for your skintone. So far I'm liking using it and hopefully a review will be up soon! Then I finished it off with my standard under eye concealer and powder.

I'm never one to wear eyeshadow during the day but I decided to wear Sin from the Naked palette over the lids and blended it out with Naked. Just a slick of eyeliner and a few coats of a new mascara I'm trying out - so far I'm impressed but I'll give it a little longer to really test it out!

And then with the lips I went for Revlon's matte lip colour for a pop - I'm wearing a monotone outfit so wanted a colour pop to brighten it all up. I love this colour but I find it seeping into dry spots if you don't prep with lip balm first!

the beauty post | FOTD

 B A S E

After applying my daytime moisturiser I went in with my Garnier BB cream. I don't usually wear anything but powder and concealer usually, but my skin has been getting really dry so I used this today for a bit of moisture. I do really like this BB cream and I use it in the colour 'light' - I've reviewed it here. I then use the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer under my eyes (review here) and the Collection concealer on any red bits. These are both my number one concealers but find that they can settle into lines so set them into place with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder (review here). I have this in the shade 'transparent' so I can use it whatever skin tone I am!

I then move onto my eyes and use my Holy Grail eyeliner - the Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner is so easy to use and I use it almost every day without fail. I've given an entire review already on it here so I won't ramble on about it any longer! I just did a very fine line along the lashes and then a small flick on the edge. I then go onto my waterline with the Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof eyeliner in 'nude'. This really brightens up my eyes and makes me look much more awake than I am! I then use the Benefit They're Real mascara on the top lashes and The Body Shop Define and Lengthen mascara on the bottom. These work really well together and I think using a lengthening mascara on the bottom lashes is really flattering.

On my lips I just used the Topshop lipstick in 'macaroon'. It's just a lovely blue-toned pink and such a flattering colour. I've already reviewed it here so go check that out if you fancy!

So this is my make up today, I hope you've enjoyed reading this and having a gander at my face!

Have you used any of these products?

the beauty post | pretty gold and purple eyes using the urban decay 'alice in wonderland' palette

i'm usually very samey with my eye make up, i just sweep on some liquid liner and mascara and go.
however, sometimes i really love mixing it up and adding some colour, and i have quite a few looks i go to regularly - and i'm going to share one of these looks with you today.

these are the products i used to create the look - liquid liner, mascara, an eyeshadow primer and the urban decay 'alice in wonderland' palette. i was lucky enough to buy this palette off ebay in 2010 a couple of says after it was released. you can still get it now, but the prices are pretty high.

the palette itself includes 16 shades, two 24/7 eyeliners and some primer potion. none of the shades are new releases - they are all existing UD eyeshadows but the names have been changed to fit in with the alice in wonderland theme.

the shades i used were oraculum (baked), queen (last call) and underland (flash).
oraculum is a really lovely copper-gold, it's quite dark and really well pigmented.
queen is a cranberry shade with a really warm hint of gold to it.
underland is a bright purple which is crazy-pigmented.

with all of the shades, you only need a little to go a long way as they are so pigmented. they are also really smooth and easy to apply.

i first applied a primer to my lid (MUA's pro-base primer) and then applied oraculum to the inner two thirds of my eye, stopping at the crease. i used a flat shader brush (MAC 242) and packed the shade on.

i then took queen and applied it to the outer third, blending it into the gold. i used the benefit talent brush as it is so thin and helps to control where the product goes.

i then blended the edges to give a seamless look using the MAC 224 brush, a really big fluffy brush. this can sometimes make the colours lose intensity so you can go back in with the shadows to add it back.

i then took underland on an even smaller brush (an UD liner brush) and added a small amount right into the middle of the purple shade. this just added a little more dimension and colour to the purple part to really make it pop.

i then brought queen and oraculum under the eye to the bottom lid and blended them together in the middle, just to pull the look together.

i then lined my upper lid with my trusty soap and glory supercat liner and falsies mascara to finish off the look.

i've been turning to this look whenever i've been on a night out recently and get lots of compliments on it. i really think gold and purple work well together, and these UD shades really do stand out and last.

to do you think this is a pretty look?
would you wear it yourself?
