the beauty post | rimmel stay matte pressed powder

£3.99 - boots

for my powder i generally use the benefit hello flawless! powder in 'champagne' which is on the higher end of the scale money-wise at £25.50, but is such a good product which i really love and always return to. a few weeks ago i sadly hit pan on the powder and was trying to ration it out until i went on holiday this weekend (duty-free!) but it sadly ran out two days ago and i had to rush and get another to replace it.

sadly there are no benefit shops/sellers in my hometown so i headed to boots to see if there were any other powders that could do the job. i first heard about the rimmel stay matte powder from the legend that is tanya burr who regularly says that she swears by this product, and i thought that if an amazing makeup artist like tanya uses it, then it n=must be pretty good - and for £3.99 i was sold.

i got the shade '001 transparent' which doesn't add any colour to the face but mattes the skin in one sweep - meaning you won't be orange or shiny which is a damn good combination! i'm also hoping that this will mean i can still use the powder once i have a tan and it will not be too light on my skin.

it promises to keep skin matte for 5 hours and minimise pores, which are both true - i was wearing this powder yesterday whilst sat out in the sun and couldn't see a difference even though i was really hot after the sun.

the only negative i could find was that the powder isn't very finely milled  (as it is quite cheap) so if you go overboard then you can suddenly look a bit powdery so you have to be pretty light handed and careful to not apply too much. also the packaging is pretty cheap and i can see this easily breaking in my bag and going everywhere - but for only £4 i'm not expecting a solid gold case or anything!

i just think this will be a great powder to take on holiday and just throw in my bag and not worry about it getting broken or ruined. i'm not sold on using this over the benefit powder but could see myself using the benefit one for more special occasions and just using this for day-to-day makeup looks.

overall a lovely product and well worth the money!
