style | simple

You can never go wrong with black and white in my opinion. And this outfit is feeling pretty autumnal now - I'm pretty glad it's getting a bit colder in England because autumn is definitely my favourite season!

I just wore this simple textured top with my pom pom shorts, tights and boots. Then I added my spiky headband to add a little bit of interest to it - although this headband KILLS after a few hours of wear so let's see how long it lasts today!

TOP: Miss Selfridge
SHORTS: ASOS
BOOTS: New Look
HEADBAND: Primark

In other news, I've chopped my hair off again! I'm in a period where I love short hair on me so I had another few inches chopped off last week. I've also had a bit more blonde put through it but I still want to go even lighter on my next few visits!

What do you think of this outfit - and the weather we're having at the minute?

style | i kind of shrunk my smock dress

smock dress | river island via asos
disco pants | new look
coat | fearne cotton at very
shoes | miss selfridge
bitch face | model's own

We've all been there haven't we: got caught up in another episode of PLL and accidentally forget about that drying we put on 40 minutes ago. I'm a prime suspect whenever it comes to shrinking clothes in my house and the newest victim was my lovely smock dress that I got last year.

 It was always a tad short on me so after it got the shrinking treatment it's basically been hanging in my wardrobe looking all sorry for itself. I can just about get away with it with a pair of extremely thick tights - as long as there's not a hint of wind in the air or it would definitely be a case of 'HELLO LAURA'S BUTTCHEEKS!' so I decided to try it out with my disco pants and think it looks surprisingly nice. Smock dresses are a number one for me just because they are so comfy so I'm loving being able to wear this one still even after my slip up!

 I'm also really glad I was able to get this coat out again - I bought it a year or two ago and have never really known how to wear it just because I thought the shape was quite unflattering on me. However, now that boyfriend coats are a 'thing' I think it's a lot more acceptable to have coats which aren't the most flattering so I've barely taken this one off!

Has anyone else had a major mishap with their clothes that they have somehow been able to work?!
Let me know!

style | whole new look

top || New Look (in the sale!)
scarf || ASOS (personalised)
lion necklace || New Look
heart necklace || gift
'take me down' anchor necklace || Me and Zena

I'm sure regular readers of Laura Loves That took one look at these pictures and went 'a whole new look? nothing's changed!'. Well actually the title of this post refers to the possibly sad fact that literally my entire outfit is from New Look.

I said in a recent post that New Look is currently killing it for me, and is full of so many pieces that I would happily wear. It's a brand that I once thought of as mumsy and really safe, but the past couple of seasons have really shown New Look amping up the fashion stakes and coming out with some affordable yet stylish pieces.

Take this top for example: I actually got it in the sale New Look is currently having (check it out - it's such an amazing sale!) for just £8. It's from the tall section and falls at a really lovely place on my own body. It's also made of that weird waffle material, which I think makes it look so expensive and like you've made a little more effort. Details like the gold zip to the back and the different hem make me really love this.

I wore it with my favourite pants of the moment - the disco ones I got a couple of months ago. I really love these but sadly there's a little bit of stretching appearing in the butt area and I have a feeling they will be going wither saggy or see through pretty soon! I do wear them to death though, so I can't really complain.

The scarf from ASOS was actually a snood when I bought it a couple of years ago. You can tell from these pictures just how huge it is and I never actually wore it as a snood as it was literally like a neck brace and I could barely see my feet when I wore it. I asked my gran if she could turn it into a scarf all voila, these are the results. I love it!

What do you think?
Do you think New Look has got a lot more fashionable recently?

style | new things

T O P - River Island via ASOS
C O A T - New Look
B A G - ASOS
N E C K L A C E - Primark

Two posts in two days, what is this madness?!
Today I had a lot of spare time so decided to spend my time wisely on my blog instead of watching Loose Women and whatever trash I can find on TV!
Today I'm literally wearing an entirely new outfit - I got this lovely bright blue top in the January sales from RI via ASOS. It was down to £15 from £28 or so, and I am so in love with it! I love this shade of blue and have recently found myself buying lots of textured tops as they look like I've made an effort when really they are the most comfortable things to wear. I can't find it online anymore though, sorry!

I'm also wearing my new disco pants from New Look. I've wanted a pair for literally 6 months or so but have never found any of good quality for a cheap price. These were £23 which is a little steep as they aren't the best quality, but they definitely look lovely on. The material can really catch on stuff like velcro and wood though so whenever I wear them I get really paranoid of catching them!

And of course, my new babies - these boots! I literally only got them yesterday in the post but as soon as I put them on I knew I would be wearing them every day literally! I first saw these on Sian from SianShutterbug in one of her latest videos, and I'm so glad I bought them. For £25 they are the perfect knock offs of the Vagabond Dioon's.

I think this outfit could easily pass on a casual night out for drinks, but today I'll be wearing it food shopping (my life >>>> your life) and then I'm going out for tea tonight with my girlfriends - my first time at Chiquito's and I literally cannot wait. Expect many pictures of amazing food on my Instagram tonight!!

Do you like my outfit?

the style post | asos sale pick

DRESS - ASOS (sale)
NECKLACE - PRIMARK

Long time, no see!
I can't believe I last wrote on here in November - now here we are in January 2014 and I'm finally back! I was only meant to take a couple of weeks off to finish up uni work and hand in some assignments, but then I decided to take a little longer off and then it was Christmas and then I went on holiday and now here we are!

I thought today I'd show off one of my recent sale picks from ASOS. I've wanted this dress for literally months - ever since it cam on the site, but for £48 I held back and then finally after Christmas I found it in the sale. Don't you love it when that happens!

I love everything about this dress - but mainly the print. I love a good elephant print and especially this one as it's much less in your face and not very visible unless you really look. The material is seriously lovely too - really soft and light. It's definitely a piece I'll be wearing all year round because it is really easy to layer up and yet lightweight enough for the hotter months.

I've never really got on with the smock dress though - I've always loved it and have ordered so many dresses in the smock style but I never think I can get away with it - I think you have to have a certain body type and I might not really have it with boobs and a butt! But I love this dress so much that I don't really care and I'm definitely keeping it! I think it'll just take a bit of getting used to as I usually wear dresses which are a little more fitted as they flatter my body type more.

I wore it with my favourite bag at the moment - this lovely satchel from ASOS. I've been after a little handy bag for a while now- one that I can take on nights out but also to uni on days when I don't need as much stuff. It's such a lovely coral colour and has two compartments inside, with a zip pocket as well. The only thing I would say is that the clasp needs a bit of work to begin with as I found it really difficult to open for the first few weeks!

So what do you think of my sale dress? Have you bought anything good in the Christmas sales? Let me know!
